This webinar introduces powerful desktop and online mapping and spatial analysis tools, data, and other related resources that can support higher education teaching and research activities. These resources are applicable to a wide range of disciplines including health, public safety, public policy, economics, informatics, and more.
One of the highlights of the webinar is SAVI, an online collection of free interactive mapping and analysis tools, downloadable databases, reports, and data literacy workshops. SAVI offers access to thousands of data variables that define the socio-economic characteristics of Indiana in finite detail covering multiple decades. Data themes include demographic trends, social determinants of health, social services, crime, education, and more. Examples of how SAVI resources have already been applied to support IU research and teaching will be shared.
The webinar also introduces ArcGIS Online, a tool that can be used to create customized, interactive maps and dashboards that can enhance course content and support research. Workshop facilitators will also provide information about the wide variety of available Indiana demographic and environmental geospatial data resources available to faculty and students.
