On Feb. 10, Polis will conduct the webinar, “Living in the Community with Dementia ,” as part of the SoAR project. Speakers include Steve Counsell, MD, AGSF, FACP, Professor of Medicine, IU School of Medicine, Founding Director, IU Geriatrics Program 1997-20016, and Former Chief of Geriatrics, Eskenazi Health; NiCole Keith, PhD, FACSM, Professor, Dept. of Kinesiology and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, IU School of Human & Human Sciences; and Natalie Sutton, Chapter Executive, Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter. They will discuss the many challenges faced by the growing number of older Hoosiers living with dementia in the community. The panel will present on dementia care services developed in Indiana that have been shown to improve the health outcomes of PLWD and reduce caregiver stress will be presented, as well as community and state initiatives to better address the challenges of PLWD and their caregivers. Event partners include the Central Indiana Senior Fund, a fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation, WFYI, and Regenstrief Institute.
